Meet my new future camera...

Canon has a new camera coming and when it hits the street I'll be the first of my friends to have one in hand.

It is going to serious cut into my hasselblad budget, but so what! In other news I ordered a new dell this week. It is shipping with Vista. I'll be sure to let y'all know what I think. Ohh... I also got my hands on a copy of Adobe's new product Lightroom. Not bad!!

Old dogs.

Tonight at a bar I was trying to explain to a couple who wants a new Pomeranian that they should adopt one from a rescue. I was using the logic that they are old people dogs and when old people die there dogs often end up in rescues. My only proof for my claim is that my pal Edwin has a rescue dog that came from an old persons estate. Great dog. So calm, although morbidly obese. I looked on petfinder and... it appears my claim was incorrect. It is much easier to find an "aussie" mutt than it is to find a PomPom puppy. Oh well. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.

In other news I had my broken washing machine fixed today - it cost $81 and only took the guy like 10 minutes to fix. I even think he spent a lot of that time pretending to be busy. Such is life. The good news is I took my Oreck to the Austin Vacuum repair place and they fixed it for $2.50!!! Yea for fixing thing instead of replacing them.

True Love.

Happy Valentines Day! True love gives Elpha shelving units on this most romantic day of the year. :) I couldn't think of a better gift to receive. I'm really excited about having a new, organized, place to put my clothes.

Tonight we are having a dinner party for a dozen people. If you are reading this and you weren't invited it wasn't because I don't love you - it was because we live in a TINY house. We are going to serve shrimp and grits, greens, salad, and ice cream pops for dessert. It's been ages since I've thrown a dinner party and I'm whole heartedly looking forward to it.

The photo above was from a practice session with one of my customers kids. I keep looking at the photo and being amazed by it. This image speaks to me! It is intimate and compelling. The dots above her head echo the expression on her face. If only I could do this every time I pick up my camera. The new 50mm lens is helping. Funny a pro photographer with 7 ($1500) lenses chooses to use the most traditional of them daily. This lens has re-awakened my desire to shoot wide.

Door to door...

This is the slow time of year for me. I'm actively looking for work. Usually the phone has a way of ringing - just not in Jan and Feb. Today a woman knocked on my door trying to sell magazines. She was working for some terrible pyramid scheme which I knew she'd make almost no money from. She kept telling me about how she needed to buy food and clothes for her 3 year old. I just wanted to tell her to find a real job, but to her that was a real job. The problems I have are such wonderful easy to manage things. I'd like to have more work, but I'm not hungry going door to door. That said... if you have any photo work that needs to be done call me.
